Dr. Joseph Muchiri is the Head, Department of Community Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics. in the school of Public Health. He is a public health specialist with over 10 years of experience in teaching, research, and Health programming. Dr Muchiri holds a Master in Public Health (Moi University), Master of Science in Applied Research (Victoria university of Wellington) and a Ph.D. in Health Communication (JKUAT).
Teaching experience
As a lecturer in the School of Public Health, Dr Muchiri supervises several postgraduate students and teaches the following course units; Research methodology, Biostatistics, Health education theories and practices, Health communication among others.
Areas of research interest
Using mixed research method methodology, Dr Muchiri’s research interests focus on a number of topical areas, including but not limited to; cervical cancers, prostate cancer, HIV/AIDS, adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) and monitoring and evaluation of health programs. Dr Muchiri is proficient in social research.
