Admission Policy and Selection

  • Admission of students to the Bachelor of Science program will be as per the Public health office and Technician Council and MKU statutes.
  • This is detailed in the curriculum
  • There are no additional requirements at institutional levels.
  • Admission is on the basis of merit and affirmative action
  • Upon admission, students may appeal for inter-university, inter-faculty transfers and deferment.
  • The suitability and capability to practice in diverse areas of public health for selected students will be  ensured by an admission criteria that is based on student’ performance in specified cluster subjects.

Students Intake

  • The student intake will be based on the current available facilities and will be subject to review upon expansion of training facilities.
  • Adjustment of student quotas will be in consultation with the the Public health office and Technician Council and the University Management.
  • The MKU-Management is consulted concerning changes in the composition of the students’ intake.

Student Support and Counseling

  • The students will have access to counseling services through the office of Dean of students, counselors, University Health Services and also teaching staff.
  • The students will have access to the medical services at the University Health Services, work study programs and VCT services.
  • The students have an to access HELB, CDF, initiated clubs, University chaplaincy services and also medical services.
  • There exists university chaplaincy, the University Health Services, dean of students and academic advisors and mentors.

Student Representation

  • Changes to the curriculum will be done with input and suggestions from the students through end of semester and year confidential evaluation of the taught units.
  • Public health students will be encouraged to participate in the existing student organizations that represent student interests within the university.
  • Through active participation of students in their associations that will be recognized by the college management board.
  • The University supports student self-government through:
  1. Training of student leaders;
  2. Providing a platform for them to exercise their leadership skills;
  3. Through participation in Management of the University affairs.
